ePortfolio Artifact #2
The artifact I chose was ISTE Standard 2.6. This was a coding activity that created a ball on a string that you could spin around. The activity promoted critical thinking, problem solving, and geometry all at the same time. The game that they create is a reward for their hard work, so they have something to work towards. The activity teaches kids to work through challenges too. This aligns with the standard because it incorporates technology skills and skills the kids will need to use to have a successful future.
This expands my pedagogical knowledge because it taught me how I can help my students pursue their interests in coding and allow the students to challenge themselves. I can use the knowledge of being able to incorporate technology to help reinforce critical thinking skills and geometry skills such as radius and area. The coding activities are from a range of topics and are different grade levels. This supports effective educators because used intentionally technology can enhance lessons and help make the material more accessible to every student. Overall, the use of technology can help teachers be more effective educators.
