I have struggled with proofreading and missing the small errors such as misspelled words, punctuation around quote integration, and extra spaces since I began writing essays. Since taking the ENG 110 course I have improved so much. I understand much better where to add the commas and punctuation around a quote. I had trouble in my first essay where to put the punctuation around a quote in some spots. In my first essay I didn’t proofread very well so I had some little mistakes in my words, and I used a lot of the passive voice. You can see this in the intro to my first essay.

My third essay I barely had any spelling errors and grammatical errors and was able to put the punctuation around the quotations correctly with ease. I proofread much better and was much more aware of mistakes and fixed them immediately. I used much more of the active voice which made my voice stronger.

I still have errors, but they are much less common with my improved skills in the area of proofreading and quote integration punctuation.
